Cherry Orchard Festival presents Vakhtangov State Academic Theatre of Russia
Mainstage
Jun 15-18, 2017
Tickets start at $45
After a sold-out West End run, Russia’s legendary Vakhtangov State Academic Theater makes a triumphant return to City Center with Uncle Vanya, Anton Chekhov's timeless story of dashed dreams, thwarted love, and eternal longing. Starring several of Russia’s most acclaimed actors—including Sergey Makovetskiy, Liudmila Maksakova, and Vladimir Simonov—this extraordinary revival features director Rimas Tuminas’ trademark "tableaus of striking beauty and grace” (The New York Times) while remaining faithful to the longstanding Stanislavski theatrical tradition. The Vakhtangov production of Uncle Vanya has received a Golden Mask Award (the Russian equivalent of the Tony Awards), a Crystal Turandot, and an International Stanislavsky Theatre Award.
Runtime: three hours with one intermission.
In Russian with English subtitles.
