With music by Igor Stravinsky, Agon, took classical ballet to bold, contemporary territory when it premiered in 1957. New York City Ballet's Unity Phelan and American Ballet Theatre's Calvin Royal III join former New York City Ballet principal dancer and Balanchine ballerina Heather Watts to examine one of George Balanchine’s masterpieces on the 60th anniversary of its premiere at New York City Center.
The Studio 5 at City Center series—featuring a first-time partnership with American Ballet Theatre—takes audiences beyond the proscenium for intimate conversations and live performance excerpts from the great dance artists of today.
